Dutch Punk - Seventh Post (Rondos complete works)

So far our punk posts have been a collection of various bands, today a collection of one band. And perhaps a very complete one. The Rondos from Rotterdam are my favorite Dutch punk band. Their Red Attack LP is an all time favorite. But there is more in this post. Kees from the nederpunk site provided some interesting live recordings from 1979 made in Schiedam and an early demo. Also in here (in the Red Attack zip) is their final 7", 'Which Side Will You Be On' and the flexi disc that came with Red Attack. In the other zip also the tracks from the split 7" with The Railbirds and their tracks from the double 7", both of them will come soon for the other tracks (also scans by then) and the two pieces from the 'Rotterdam Collection' LP which will also come in it's entirety later on. But I thought it would be good to have the complete picture here. If any ex-member of Rondos read this: I'd love to release a 2CD set of this, get in contact! (433rpm@gmail.com)

Rondos:
1. Red Attachttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifk (LP, King Kong Records rcs 435, 1980, inc flexi disc)
2. Which Side Will You Be On (7", King Kong Records kkr 007, 1980)
3. split with Railbirds (7", King Kong Records kkr 300379, 1979)
4. split with four bands (2x 7", King Kong Records kkr 150679, 1979)
(other bands from 3 and 4 will come later)

hey- why not get in touch via de kift? for anyone who doesn't know. de kift are an absolutely amazing dutch theater/music group featuring at least one ex-member of the rondos. (also include members of svatsox & BGK)though sounding very different..
www.dekift.nl/- anyway, thanks for all this rondos stuff- they truly are one of the best!

have you got, by any chance, stuff by this (i believe) dutch band called naa daa fink saa (there might be a mistake somwhere in the name) - as far as i remember this was truly decent stuff; haven't heard their lp for a long time now and i'm not sure whether they released anything apart from that or not...
another cool band was soviet sex - is there a chance of posting something by them?
thanks!

no i don't have that. i am not sure if they are dutch anyway. look for my older post on interior and find there a link for soviet sex.

I am sure that some of the problems with uploading files you have [and for "us" to download] is caused by you, having used keys in your filenames that builds an error inside these files. The key """"" is such a key. So you can better name a map: 7inch and not: 7" . I think you have a great blog here, good info and complete with download and scans, good work. When you want to find Rondos members you surely have to contact De Kift, for Wim Ter Weele, i know his personel emailadres but you better ask trough www.dekift.nl, Marco can help you on. Also there is the site of the guiterplayer of the Rondos, he is now doing art, living near Groningen, look at: http://www.allievanaltena.nl/rondos/index.html
for his emailadres, and other Rondos storys.

Hi - just wanted to say that I love the blog: a great history of Dutch music!
And great to see posts on the Rondos - I bought their LP and singles back in the old days when they came out, and always loved their sound and political lyrics...

However, the files for the songs from the Railbirds split EP seem to be corrupted - I can't unzip them...:(
Any chance of re-uploading them, please?
That would be great!

Thanks,

Nic

my blog is not purely about dutch music, but also international stuff.

it must be my english, but none of the railbirds tracks or any of the tracks of the double 7" were included in this post, just the rondos from these releases. like said: the rest will come later.

Love your blog.

Now that you've posted the other tracks, wouldn't it be easier to repeat tracks if you're going to split this up so that someone just downloading one or the other won't be missing anything? Or at least warning in the comments of both posts?

Not complaining, just asking. :-)

i have no idea what you mean.

hee frans bedankt wederom!

rondos cd box in the making, maybe even vinyl reissue to!

naa a da fink sa, 2 swiss people living in nl... later appeared in the plot... 1 dutch lady, yoke who had played in the ex before that (blueprints for a blackout)

pat (guitar) played in swiss punkerband FDP (freiheit durch pogo)
who had a split 7" with DRASKE on gramschap label

a bit of a late answer to one of the comments here; Na a da fink sa was (partly) a dutch band. the former Ex-bass player Joke played in this band and i think Pat & Lena as well, who went on to form The Plot later -they made a coupla records on ADM Discs and toured around a bit.

thank you so very, very much for this!!! i used to have most of all this but all i still have is the red attack album and the tandstickorshocks ep...

there was also an anti-rondos flexi single that was put out by a rotterdam band named chatterbox, maybe you heard about it?

Hi,
You're right, there was an anti-Rondos flexidisc, which was recorded by Leo Schelvis, at the time the owner of Haddock's Recordshop, with 'the Dolbies' as backing band. Don't remember under what alias this was done.
Chatterbox, of which I was a member, had absolutely nothing to do with this release.
We were very good friends with the Rondos and actually rehearsed at their residence in the 'Bunker'.
Funny enough, a few years later, I became the owner of Haddock records, which might explain the confusion. :-)
