Its been a while since I posted music by Bradley, but here is a tape on that dubious Freedom From label. Great drone noise.

Machines At Last (tape, Quick Stab prod 17, 19??)

Mainly one Robert Lawrence and Paul Shorthouse, who play a bunch of synthesizers, guitar, xylophone and such like. Dr. Freakowitz who submitted this, also has no clue about these people, whom could be spotted on some compilations too.

Small Cruel Party - Unroof The House Of The Fishes (tape, G.R.O.S.S., 1993)

I posted some music by Key Ransone before, and I think this is the only release I have by Key Ransone on cassette. There has been a hiatus in releasing his music, but apparentely next year he will appear in the Zelphabet series. Great cover as usual for this Japanese label.

This particular De Fabriek tapes was recorded with or by Klaas Mons, whom we know from Solenoid, and who is a regular member of De Fabriek. Otherwise, like most De Fabriek tapes, there isn't much information on the cover.

Also on De Koude Oorlog is this nice compilation of a varied bunch of musics, by THU20 (who still exist to this date), De Fabriek, Schwester Eberhard, Accusation, Schaum der tage, The Paradox, Krystof Kudla and Szarkov. From punk to experimental - the latter is majority here.

I don't know anything about this, except that it's one H.P. Flohr playing music here. I believe he was a member of Szarkov. Things are more synth music based here however.

Genf - Roh (LP, Finlayson FTV 013, 1996)

And after all this noise, for something completely different. Genf was a trio of Cologne, I believe, consisting of Oliver Brand, Olaf Karnik & Jens Massel, who recorded a few pieces of vinyl, in the mid nineties. They are best described I guess, as a post rock band. Music I liked at the time, and sometimes still do actually. Genf was, along with Kreidler, one of the better ones on the scene.

Andrew Smith - Etiology (tape, Big Body Parts bbp 047, 1989)

"This cassette is noxious forces blasted to wake you from the stench of the nineteen eighty-nine in shock waves of DNA communication to tear you from your screaming flesh pure blasts of ecstacy... Pink bursts of orgasm sound-like the first furtive masturbation under the sheets when you were seven and overwhelmed with the force that gripped your body... Think back to your first trip and the wrenching triviality of any thing short of infinity. Chaos every where, in an explosion of free. This cassette is an aural documentation of Metastasis, an album released on RRRecords in the nowhere summer of nineteen eighty-eight. I affixed razorblades, plaster, nails, paint, junk to old records... Played loud, it carried Schoenberg's 'emancipation to the dissonance' to its fatal extreme. The music is created as the record is played; it is a constant flux, a 'pure presence' that won't kill you. This cassette is an autopsy. My only contribution to this tape was its authorization; all recordings and editing was done by Jeph Jerman."

Andrew Smith lives, released two tapes on Sounds For Consciousness Rape, and a 7" for RRRecords and one on Stomache. The record in the text above was an anti-record, which RRRecords released various of. Smith lives in The Netherlands these days. website

Honeymoon Production - Tiergarten (tape, Honeymoon Productions honey three, 1989)

I was just checking out Freek Kinkelaar's (of Beequeen fame) blog and saw that his first solo Brunnen LP 'Swoon' is now re-issued. Great news (even when I had lined it up for this blog), as it has a few extra tracks. He has some for sale it seems. I posted some pre-Beequeen and pre-Brunnen music of his before, when he called himself Gazza November, but here its Honeymoon Production (and as such he also released an Anti record on RRRecords), with recordings he made in a zoo in Holland.

As promised a while ago, here's one of the very few releases by Maeror Tri on cassette, which have not been released on CD/CDR - at least I think so. The tracks are a bit unbalanced, with some being louder than others, but throughout it gives a fine impression of what they sounded like.

Neo is Kevin Harrison and Peter Every, who play instruments, tapes, programs, digital samples, shortwave radio, TV, bricollage, sound processors. Dr Freakowitz says its a bit like My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts but then more electronic. The Kevin Harrison website says there is a CDR of this for sale, but when Dr. Freakowitz tried to order it nothing happened, nor has the website been updated for some years. Sueño Sueño - Tapas (tape, Ding Dong Records And Tapes ddc 008, 1983)

I am pretty sure that the Spanish sounding Sueno Sueno is not spanish, but German, and not just because it was recorded in Germany. It just lacks nice latin groove, and it lacks a good recording quality. Dr. Freakowitz mailed this and we both agree its not a very strong release. They had a track on 'Inspiration Series 1' which I posted last week and 'Turkish Delight', posted some time ago. Otherwise I have no idea who or what they were.

Zoogz Rift - War Zone (LP Musical Tragedies mt 095, 1990)

From discogs: "As imaginative and stimulating as he is irritating and vitriolic, California's Zoogz Rift (Robert Pawlikowski) is an iconoclastic original, a reactionary whose paranoia has too frequently detracted from his music's experimental pizzazz and considerable exotic charm. This might be explained by what were, for a long time, his primary intellectual inspirations: Salvador Dali's dadaist strategies and Ayn Rand's objective realism. The singer/guitarist is (too) often compared musically to Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart; while this may have applied to his earlier recordings, the past few years have found Rift toiling prolifically in a fertile field all his own. And lest casual observers be intimidated by his scatology and other intentional offenses to good taste and community standards, let it be stated clearly that Rift is not some talentless asshole making noise for an audience of one. Although they are wildly uneven, many of his records are genuinely good."

White Colours - Neoism Now (tape, Artcore Editions, 198?)

From deli plain:

Another Neoist sound montage made up of fragments of music, noise and spoken words. Just like Monty Cantsin, "White Colours", originally a punk band by Stewart Home, was a multiple Neoist name that anyone could use. The liner notes of the cassette accordingly state that "different Monty Cantsins sent in their musically [sic] products. They were then mixed together by Monty Cantsin". It is no secret that that particular Monty Cantsin was Graf Haufen. He compiled this tape in 1987, shortly after the 64th International Neoist Apartment Festival in Berlin that had its opening in his own apartment.

The tape is, as obvious from the uniform title and graphic design, the audio complement to the book "Neoism Now" and the postcard box "Neoism Now" which were compiled and published by Graf Haufen at the same time. These three were the last products of "Artcore Editions", Haufen's small publishing house for tapes, print publications and art objects that had succeeded Graf Haufen Tapes. After their release, Graf Haufen joined the Neoist Art Strike, concentrated his efforts on his cinephile video rental store Videodrom that continues to thrive in Berlin, and hasn't resumed making music or art ever since.

Extremities Vol. 1 (tape, Vandal Cassettes, 1987)

Vandal Cassettes was the label by Don van Handel, who played music as Vandal X, and had close ties to Amor Fati. I don't much about him. There is a tape by him on Opus Dei Society, and some collaborations with Amor Fati and Kapotte Muziek. Also I don't know if there are more volumes of this 'series'. On Volume One we find harsh noise by Victor/im, Tecdor Mental, Vandal X, S.Core, Kapotte Muziek, Amor Fati, Context and Une Le Wurg Production.
