Illusion Of Safety - My Mind Is Killing Me (tape, Complacency, 198?)
I know, I promised more Illusion Of Safety tapes, but it takes more time, of course. 'My Mind Is Killing Me' is not mentioned in discogs and is from 1986. Credits go out to Dan Barke, except some with Mitch Enderle, Elaine Rangel and Jay Closser. Tracks come unseperated.

Hula - Shadowland/Walk On Stalks Of Shattered Glass (LP, 12", Red Rhino Records, 1986)
The fourth post with the music of Hula, see the first post for more information. 'Shadowland' is something of an odd ball in their catalogue, more ambient like, and recorded live in a gallery.

Due Process - RRRadio Six (LP, RRRecords RRR, 1987)
As I was posting Wiggins yesterday, I noticed he was mentioned as a member of Due Process: "Featuring Thomas Dimuzio, Ron Lessard (the man behind RRRecords) and John Wiggins, Due Process knows how to crank it out. While they can create a terrific din, the music actually leans a bit in the ambient direction, with lower dynamics and muffled timbres, albeit with a raucous pandemonium of noise just beneath the surface." The RRRadio series is where Due Process made 'spontaneous record/tape collages with improvised musical accompaniment'. On this record its Micheal Wayne (tapes), Ron Lessard (records, tapes), Dennis Reilly (reading Bukowski, Kipling + Reilly) and Andrew Herman (studio etc.). Furthermore tapes were used by tape contributions provided by Mark Murrell (Ann Arbor, MI), Martyr V2101 (Lowell, MA) & Barry Pilcher (Oyfed, Wales, Great Britain). Due Process still exists and made loads of other things, such some great 'anti records'.

John Wiggins - All The Truth At Once (LP, RRRecords, RRR 009, 1986)
"Emmy-award winning sound supervisor, long time NYC resident and electronic musician. Part of the home-taping underground since the mid 1980s."is all that said on Discogs. Wiggins released two LPs on RRRecords, of which this one is the first. I don't have the other one. "The music was produced using 'coincidence' as a method of producing all forms. Sounds frome everywhere were recorded, sampled, synthesized and combined to see if a naturahttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifl enviorment [sic] could be set up, inside of which I could find a 'music'." (liner notes). As much as I tried, I had to leave it unindexed. Nice mid eighties example of early computer music.

Bushido - Voices (12", Third Mind Records TMS 05, 1985)
From Gary Levermore's project Bushido I posted the LP 'The Sands Of Nakajima' before and his other two releases 'Among The Ruins' and 'Deliverance' are on Mutant Sounds. There is quite a bunch of tracks from compilations, but lots I don't have, but it would make a nice extra post. Alas, it's not. But 'Voices' is quite a nice one anyone.

Dry Lungs Three (LP, Placebo Records, 1987)
The only other volume I have from the Dry Lungs series is number 3. This already goes into different musical areas, with some improvised music by Un Drame Musical Instantane, Helen Sage, computer music by John Wiggins and also we find Maybe Mental, Cranioclast, Paul Lemos, John Wiggins, Hauswolff/Karkowski, Greater Than One (another remarkable band on a compilation such as this), Collectif Nox, Phantom Tollbooth, Die Form and Arthur Potter (who also painted the cover and much of Controlled Bleeding covers).

Paul Lemos of Controlled Bleeding compiled this album, and put his own band on the first side, first track. This album contains all the more well-known industrial music makers from the 80s, with half US acts and one half European, plus of course Merzbow. Also included are Etant Donnes, Neo Zelanda, Esplendor Geometrico, Toll, Vivenza, HNAS/Mieses Gegonge, Jarboe, P16.D4/SBOTHI, Maybe Mental, Le Syndicat, Sleep Chamber, John Duncan, P231/ANKH, Dog As Master and Problemist.

Nieuws Uit Nergensoord (tape, Welvaartstaat Tapes, wst 011), Het Syndroom (tape, Welvaarstaat Tapes, wst 006)
Some weeks ago a friend of mine asked when I was going to publish more Dutch punk and new wave, which I'm also asked through the comment. I don't have much of that left and I rather not take something from soulseek and republish that. I need to have the very object so I know that what I post is correct. Its from the same friend that I borrowed these two tapes from Welvaartstaat Tapes, a cassette label from Groningen, who releasedhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif anything from punk, new wave to experimental music. On 'Nieuws Uit Nergensoord' (news from nowhere), you'll find Fockewerkens, ICA, De Twaalf Omgevingen (which later became Kleg), Jodrell Bank, Lompies, Het Laster and Opel Kadet. As an extra the short release 'Het Syndroom' which has three bands, Gronies Uitgraven, Beperk and Pogostyx, but no track titles so I didn't separate these tracks.

La Sonorite Jaune & The Haters - The Interstellar Destroyed Music Mail Project (tape, SJ Organisation, 1987)
My final post on La Sonoite Jaune, as I don't seem to have their Complacency release, is their 'music by mail' release with The Haters. The cover says: 'The Interstellar Destroyed Music Mail Project was suggested by La Sonorite Jaune to The Haters in february 1987... S.J. started the recording and mixing of basispieces, using its favorite sound elements (birds, concrete noises, voices, and various acoustical instruments) to provide 8 soundtracks explaining their so-called parallel universe. The result was sent to The Haters who wishes manipulating the sounds to their conveniences to complete this ID.M.M.P. According to their famous concept their recorded the destroyed version of La Sonorite Jaune's Music'. I know The Haters don't like their music to be posted, but I hope, to get this almost complete picture of La Sonorite Jaune, that this is o.k.

Merzbow & Total - Merzbow Mixed Total (tape, Sterilized Decay 002, 1996)
In a time when Merzbow was already heavily into releasing CDs he released this tape with him mixing raw materials by Matthew Bower, then known as Total. Before that Bower was in Skullflower and now as Sunroof best known. The cover lists two tracks, but no such point to separate was detected by me. Also the fifty minutes run one side of this tape, the other side has the same piece. So included only once.

De Fabriek/Telepherique - PWZ (LP, De Fabriek Records & Tapes, 1993)
Somebody asked for more De Fabriek and here is their 1993 collaboration with Germany's Telepherique, a group of the brothers Klaus and Rene Jochim along with their sister Danijela. Both De Fabriek and Telepherique are still around. The theme for this record is speed, high ways and truck stops. Although the cover indicates various tracks it was quite hard to separate them. I left them unindexed.

Crawling With Tarts - Operas (LP, ASP, 1993)
"Michael Gendreau and Suzanne Dycus-Gendreau have been working under the name Crawling With Tarts from 1983 to 1998. They have released musical work on cassette and vinyl and have appeared on several compilations. In 1991 they released a video collection which included their works made with video, 8mm film, and with the PXL2000 camera. Their musical work ranges from structured composition to free improvisation, and their output documents a varied approach to music as well as highlighting collaborative efforts which have spanned the years and the globe." (from Discogs)
"This record contains 4 operas that we composed for various live performances. On each of them 78 RPM record players were used, transducing singularities, especially one-of-a-kind amatuer-cut disks made during the 30s through the 50s. We also added various instruments along with the records. For these recordings, the records were often chosen for their signal and their noise information; it is our expectation that by releasing these operas on a similar species of media, the noise will increase with use as it has on the original recordings, enhancing the intended communication over time" (record liner notes)

Con-dom - The Eighth Pillar (LP, SFCR 0001, 1992)
And from the noise of John Cage to the noise of Con-dom, spanning thirty years of noise. "Con-Dom stands for Control-Domination, and is the one-man industrial noise band of Mike Dando. Con-Dom explores any kind of social tensions and control: political, religious, racial, with an acid, violent and uncompromising attitude. He is well-known in the industrial scene for his furious ravaging vocals and the devastating live performances, in which he turns into a real stage animal."
Con-dom started releasing materrial in the early eighties and has a whole bunch of cassettes to his name with loud electronic music an strong voice. This LP was released by the French Sounds For Consciousness Rape label and "is inspired by the life, writings and example of British author and "man of action" T. E. Lawrence - an enigmatic outsider who lived a tortured odyssey of physical and spiritual extremes in search of his own personal faith." There is a booklet to it, which I don't have.

John Cage & Christian Wolff (LP, Mainstreet, 1962)
The oldest entry on this blog until now I guess. The three pieces by Wolff on one side are nice, 'Duo For Violonist & Pianist', 'Summer' for string quartet and 'Duet II' for Horn and Piano, but it's fairly traditional modern classical music, well, of course as far I can judge. But the true reason is the other side, Cage's 'Cartridge Music', which is a piece for contact microphones and small amplified objects and as Cage says, with the feedback left in. I heard various versions of this piece and they are all quite soft, but here Cage and Tudor rock like hell. This is exactly like Merzbow would sound, twenty years later. Great early noise. I am not sure I will put up more Cage, but I have the two 'Variations' LPs which are also on CD, so anyone interested in buying them, let me know (433rpm@gmail.com). Covers are worn but the records sound great.

blackhumour - binary (and/or) (tape, Nihilistic Recordings, 1987)
Another fine early work by blackhumour, this time released on Peter Zincken's of Odal fame's label Nihilistic Recordings. Still that fat thick sound of heavily processed voices. It turned out to be impossible to seperate the b-side as the three pieces flow into eachother. If you liked the previous post then you'll surely like this too.

Udt Sampler (tape, United Dairies UDT 18, 1987)
I always liked this one, as much as it also annoyed me. Music by artists unknown on the Nurse With Wound label, so perhaps it's Nurse in disguise? I see on this discogs this track list:
A1 Unknown Artist Untitled
A2 Unknown Artist Untitled
A3 Chrystal Belle Scrodd iDeath (Vocal Version)
Vocals - Diana Rogerson
A4 Unknown Artist Untitled
A5 Unknown Artist Untitled
B1 Nurse With Wound Astral Dustbin Dirge (Basic Track)
B2 Unknown Artist Untitled
B3 Unknown Artist Untitled
B4 Unknown Artist Untitled
B5 Nurse With Wound You Walrus Hurt The One You Love (Excerpt)
which is nice enough, but I made some lesser tracks, judging by own. Much piano music on side one, but collage like sounds on the other. Quite a mystery indeed.

Freedom In A Vacuum (LP, Freedom In A Vacuum, 1987)
Many labels start out with a compilation LP, at least in the 80s. Canadian label Freedom In A Vacuum did so too and found some of the best artists of the day, such as Asmus Tietchens, HNAS, Nurse With Wound, Unkommunity (of which I recently learned it has a member of Stereolab in their ranks) but also Duka Bass band, The Sodality, Psyclones/Schlafengarten and Tibetan Red, whose career started then, but only seems to continue now after a long hiatus.

The Negative Communication Age (2LP, Amen Prod 18, 1990)
Another magazine, of which I only have this issue, and also one I didn't scan since it's entirely in Italian. The cover is, me thinks, very ugly, but there is some great music on this, and names you don't see to often, like La Fura Dels Baus, The Tapes (not to be confused with the Dutch band posted earlier), Phaeton Derniere Danse, S. Core, Officine Schwartz, Le Syndicat, Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, Etant Donnes, F.A.R., Cranioclast, Tasaday, MGZ and Teatrino Della Volpe. Many italians!

Illuminated no. 1 and no. 2 (two tapes, Illuminated, ?, 1985)
The rather short lived magazine published by G.do Hübner, still of Das Synthetische Mischgewebe fame. The magazine came with a cassette. Volume one is rather short, with tracks by Falx Cerebri, Ltn. Murneau, Mauthausen Orchestra and Das Synthetische Mischgewebe. The magazine itself was a bunch a of A3 sheets with collages, info and such like. Number two was a c90 cassette, with a small book with information on everybody who contributed plus a an A4 set of sheets with collages. Music here is by Black Humor, Konstruktivits, HG Wells, Throw Me Your Finger, Pascal Comelade, Merzbow, Tomas Schmitt, George Miller, Bande Berne Cremetoire, Hotel Coventionell, Franz John, Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, Genetic Plans, Diseno Corbusier, Etant Donnes, The Haters, Falx Cerebri and Oskar Sala. I didn't find time to make any scans (not having the means to scan A3 pieces of paper, and a sufficient lack of knowledge of photoshop and such like). But the music stands easily by itself, I think. Two great compilations.

He's also the founding member the Noise of Snow Festival in Annecy. He defines himself as a hunter of sounds, and collects the resonant matters from his different journeys (Syria, Iran, Roma, Venice, Madrid, Samarkand or Madrid). He has won awards from several international competition: GMEB in Bourges, France, the Luigi Russolo prize in Italy, Radio France, La Muse in Circuit (Mauricio Kagel prize), CIMES-FICS in Prague. He received the Radio France International award "Hunters of sounds" in 2000 for "Captain Cook".

Pacific 231/Dernier Du Culte (LP, Dedali Opera opus 1, 1989)
I already did the upload on Massmirror, and then I looked at discogs, and noted this is a split LP, rather than a collaboration (the cover doesn't indicate this). So the long first track is by Pacific 231, the other three by Denier Du Culte, you may want to adjust your tags for this. Pacific 231 is a french man Pierre Jolivet was very active in the 80s as an industrial artist, and still works today. Denier Du Culte was the group of Alain Basso, Philippe Blanchard and Sylvie Loquet. Blanchard is best known as Lieutenant Caramel. The group never had many releases, and was disbanded in the early nineties. They play a more musique concrete styled industrial music.

With the help of Nico Selen, who used to run this label, we came to the conclusion that the tracklisting on the cover is wrong, but that the pieces on what I encoded are that what it is. Kluivers was the main man behind Stichting Stopcontact label when he lived in Amsterdam, but when he moved to Tilburg to get some other job, he moved entirely out of the picture. Selen just released a new CD by his band No-Notes, which I recommend.
