More from Hessel Veldman, this is another low on information release. The music is played by Kees Beukelaar, Herman te Loo and Hessel Veldman. I think all three were also a member of Gorgonzola Legs. Less experimental, more electronic, and even a bit poppy at times.

Harsh Ears Now (three tapes, Midas Music T01, 19??)

Originally Midas Tapes (the fore runner of Midas Music) released five volumes of Harsh Ears Now compilation series, in different lengths but when Jac van Bussel re-started as Midas Music he did a re-issue of three ninety minute cassettes. Lots of people from the Midas Music area, solo projects of THU20 members and they have sometimes more than one track. Lots of noise, experimental and electronic music.

The Black Box (3 tapes, Exart tapes ea 015, 016, 017, 1986?)

Packed in a black box, three tapes with black covers and a booklet with collages, this is one of those true mysteries of this blog. Nowhere it is mentioned who plays the music, but I think its safe to say it is made by Hessel Veldman, who ran the Exart label, and plays on many of the releases. Lengthy synth pieces, quite dark and ambient, and sometimes with a rhythm.

THU20 - Live At Bukbuk, Parkzicht, V2 & Eucalypta (tape, Midas Music T03, 199?)

Easily one of my favorite bands from The Netherlands. THU20 started in 1986 with Jac van Bussel, Ios Smolders, Roel Meelkop, Guido Doesborg and Peter Duimelinks. In the early days free form electronic music with lots of tapes and synths, but quite early on they started to compose music on multitrack, which lead to 'Eerste Uni', their masterwork of the late 80s, and one of the first independent CDs of that kind in The Netherlands. Guido left and the band sort get together when necessary, which can mean years of absence. Their concerts are improvisations of electro-acoustic objects, computers and analogue synths. Frans de Waard of Kapotte Muziek is now officially regarded the new fifth member. This tape has selection of early live concerts and is in fact a best of two earlier live tapes, also on Midas Music. Originally released in an edition of 100 copies.

Hometapers Nijmegen (tape, Element Tapes et 01, 198?)

Call me old, but sometimes I am surprised to see posts from me on other blogs. I have nothing against that, but it would be nice to point the source where you go it from, and thus make some ad for nice other blogs. When I left a comment somewhere about this, somebody thought I was claiming copyright, for 'things that also got without paying respect to copyright' or something along those lines. That's not the case. But unlike many others my presence on the internet is not because I want to be, but because I think I have something interesting to share. Once I have nothing share I will stop. That's the main difference between me and some other bloggers (or rather me and the rest of the internet world; I am neither part of any social networking - if I want a social network I go to the pub). Another objection against using stuff from other blogs, is that its almost the same as taking something of Soulseek and blogging it. You never know if you got the real thing, in its complete form and that's simply I am very much interested about (and not because I upload info on Discogs, because I don't, but rather because I know some people who do use downloads to do that and would you want your Discogs with mistakes?). That's why I and my fellow bloggers whom I know personally and trust, only post things we have and that in itself is no guarantee its complete, but its not lifted from some other blog or soulseek. So next to my computer is an obscure compilation tape from Nijmegen, The Netherlands with electro, minimal synth and poppy ambient. I never heard of any of these people, even though I'm from the same, not so big city. Paul Spannenberg, Peter Hoeke, Rob/Bernard, Jos/Inuit, two Guys, Phil Castio and Enrico Fiasco. Its released by Element Tapes, of whom I never heard again.

The Berlin Wall - Where's The Limit?.....Of Gewoon Het Einde (tape, Midas Tapes taped 001, 1983)

Before Midas Music there was Midas Tapes and before that there was A Tapes, all run by Jac van Bussel (DMDN). The Berlin Wall was a band he was in, along with Petra van Bommel (Voice), Bart Cuppens (Guitar) Jurgen Jeninga (Drums) and Jac on Bass & Voice. On A Tapes there was a released called 'Heesters & Thuyes', but I don't have it. This tape, the first one when Jac switched names to Midas Tapes, contains the last recordings by the band, who hailed from Asten, The Netherlands, including their final concert (next week exactly twenty-six years ago in fact). A bit punk like, but charming naive with small interviews (in Dutch) in between.
